About this search and the page images
This page searches 327,670 emails drawn from State of Michigan collections (Governor's office, MDEQ, MSP, Treasury, DTMB and others) and the EPA Region 5 interim release.
Each result links to the scanned page images it was extracted from in the original FOIA release. The source PDF page number shown beneath each scan can be used to find it in the original file.
Search is semantic (meaning-based, not keyword-only) and runs primarily in your browser. The full-corpus compact index is ~25 MB; mobile and slower-connection visitors can choose when to download it. This takes a few seconds on a fast connection but can take about a minute on slower mobile connections. Once loaded, the local corpus scan takes about a tenth of a second, followed by several seconds for query embedding and result retrieval. Built with the Flint NLP processing pipeline.
Privacy note: the text you type in the search box is converted to a numeric representation by Hugging Face's inference API; nothing else leaves your browser.
